“Used to be the kid, now homie I’m the man,” raps Wiz Khalifa on “Let It Go” from O.N.I.F.C..

It’s true that Wiz has come a long way in the past year. O.N.I.F.C. sees him truly land in first class though. He’s not only topped his phenomenal work on last year’s Rolling Papers, but he’s also dropped one of the best albums of 2012. His sly, slick, and sharp flow flies this plane right into the winner’s circle.

Whether it’s the soulful flutter of “Let It Go”, featuring one of the best Akon hooks in years, or the galactic rapping of opener “Paperbond”, O.N.I.F.C. proves that he can truly do it all. That’s one of the most magnificent elements of this album. It touches on a myriad of styles, while remaining completely its own ride. “Remember You” sees Wiz team up with The Weeknd for a letter to the fairer sex that’ll make hearts flutter and increase the desire to be “remembered”.

The album’s standout remains “The Bluff”. Wiz’s flow is icy and irresistible matching Cam’ron in terms of prowess and power. The production sizzles behind them as they trade rhymes that’ll stay stuck in your head forever as Wiz assures, “I’m here to stay”.

“Medicated” and “No Limit” only solidify that claim further later in the album.

Welcome to first class Wiz. You belong at the top forever…
